Mujer a Mujer

De Mujer a Mujer (Woman to Woman)

Mujer a Mujer Coordinator, Melisa Castro, is proud to help women talk about difficult subjects with her program. The Hispanic community is often reluctant to discuss sexual issues, such as birth control and sexually transmitted infections. De Mujer a Mujer is a program offered to Hispanic women between the ages of fifteen and sixty-five to teach them about sexual issues and risky sexual behavior.

The coordinator of the program instructs Hispanic women on how to host a gathering that teaches HIV/AIDS and STDs prevention. The casual atmosphere allows women to feel comfortable and able to open up about the very personal subject matter. Through various activities, such as discussion, presentations, and games, women gain a solid knowledge of how to protect themselves from the dangers that sexual behavior may present.

The De Mujer a Mujer program is provided through a grant from the Indiana Latino Institute. If you have questions or are interested in being a host for De Mujer a Mujer, please contact Flor Guayamo. Email her at fguayamo@uha-bjc.org or call (260) 456-5000 ext. 305.
