Director's Message

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

Rosa A. Gerra, Executive Director, celebrates the accomplishment of the new facility!Welcome to United Hispanic Americans, Inc.

Ethnic and cultural diversity is one of the defining factors of a remarkable city. Fort Wayne can become exemplary if we begin to recognize the value of our differences and work toward becoming a vibrant, cohesive community.

It is amazing to think about the number of ethnic groups in our city. In the Fort Wayne Community Schools, more than 60 languages are spoken by the students who attend. As more people are moving to Fort Wayne, it is necessary to bring the community together and keep these ethnic groups from becoming isolated.

United Hispanic Americans, Inc. has been a key force in improving the quality of life in the areas of education, community engagement, and self reliance for Latinos over the last 36 years.

We want to see students raising their hands in school and engaging with their teachers, proclaiming, "I know it!"

We want to see more Latinos in job skill training programs, youth development programs, and other empowerment programs, asserting, "I can do it!"

We want to see more Latinos in business, medicine, computer, and other careers, exclaiming, "I'm doing it!"

United Hispanic Americans, Inc. is taking the responsibility to engage people, cultivate leaders, and empower the community.

Sincerely,

Rosa A. Gerra

Executive Director
